Capcom has officially announced an extension for the eagerly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds beta following a disruptive PlayStation Network (PSN) outage that left players offline for 24 hours. This news comes as a relief for fans who were unable to enjoy the beta during its initial weekend session.
The unexpected PSN outage began on Friday, February 7, around 3pm PT, leaving players unable to connect or authenticate their games with the server—a necessity for Monster Hunter Wilds. Sony attributed the downtime to an “operational issue” but endeavored to mitigate the impact by offering all PlayStation Plus members an additional five days of service.
Originally set to run from Thursday, February 6, to Sunday, February 9, the beta faced an untimely interruption. In response to the community’s concerns, Capcom has extended the upcoming session by 24 hours. The new timeline now spans from Thursday, February 13, at 7pm PT / Friday, February 14, at 3am GMT, to Monday, February 17, at 6:59 pm PT / Tuesday, February 18, at 2:59 am GMT.
During this additional window, players will still be eligible for participation bonuses that carry over to the full game, ensuring that the extra time isn’t just to make up for lost hours, but also to enhance their hunting experience.
Even amid the downtime frustrations, beta participants expressed excitement over discovering Monster Hunter Wilds’ formidable new antagonist, Arkveld, an encounter that sparked both intrigue and awe across the gaming community.
