Polish studio People Can Fly, renowned for their dynamic gameplay and visceral storytelling, has been announced as co-developers for the much-anticipated Gears of War: E-Day. The studio will be teaming up with The Coalition to bring a new chapter to the Gears saga that promises to delve into the origins of the Locust invasion.
In a recent press release, People Can Fly expressed their excitement: “Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love.”
Gears of War fans will be thrilled to hear that E-Day is a prequel to the original trilogy. Announced during last year’s Xbox Showcase, the game will explore the early stories of beloved characters Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, with the original voice actors reprising their iconic roles.
Focusing on the horror elements reminiscent of the original trilogy, Creative Director Matt Searcy noted, “To do that, we need to be able to tell a story that feels like a horror story,” setting the stage for a gripping narrative experience.
This collaboration marks a significant chapter for People Can Fly, a studio with a rich legacy, known for titles like Bulletstorm and Painkiller. Having previously developed Gears of War: Judgment, their return to the franchise is highly anticipated.
As the gaming world awaits the launch of Gears of War: E-Day, insights continue to reveal how this prequel aims to capture the blockbuster excitement and immersive storytelling the series is known for.
