Activision, the video game titan known for its expansive franchises, might finally be gearing up to unveil the next chapter in the beloved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement when a sneaky Easter Egg surfaced in the newly updated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, subtly hinting at the return of the iconic skateboarding game.
Call of Duty outlet CharlieIntel set the gaming community abuzz with a discovery in the Black Ops 6 Season 2 Reloaded update. Nestled among the new features, weapons, and other content, fans were delighted to notice the return of a skate-themed map called Grind. This classic skatepark arena was reintroduced with a slight twist—a giant in-game TV screen flaunting a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater-esque logo and a tantalizing date: March 4, 2025.
The teaser, though understated, fuels the hopes of fans eagerly anticipating another installment in the Pro Skater legacy. Speculation intensified earlier this week when professional skater Tyshawn Jones hinted at his involvement in an upcoming Tony Hawk game, as reported by VGC.
During a candid chat on The Breakfast Club podcast, Jones let slip, “I’m in a Tony Hawk coming out, so that’s cool. They got a new one they remastering so that’s about to come out. I was in the last one.” His comments have added to the excitement and expectation for March 4, when Activision is expected to lift the curtain on its next big project.
The storied franchise last tried to capture the magic with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 in 2015, with mixed results. However, 2020 saw a successful rebirth with Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes from Vicarious Visions. As five long years have passed since a fresh Tony Hawk title, anticipation runs high that fans’ patience will be rewarded with an announcement next month.
In the meantime, players can dive into Black Ops 6’s skateboarding-themed content, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cosmetics, which have sparked debate among fans. Additionally, Tony Hawk himself confirmed last year that he resumed collaboration with Activision, further fomenting rumors of an impending release.
As the gaming world awaits the March 4 revelation, skateboard enthusiasts and Tony Hawk loyalists alike are keen to see what the next ride down memory lane holds.
